WEINRICH

This meat packaging project was developed during my senior tenure at Virginia Tech, as a response to a project prompt that required students to design and develop branding and packaging around a food or beverage product of your choice, for which I chose to produce a unique German meat brand. I chose to utilize this project as an opportunity to research my family’s German heritage, and use several of the family lines as inspiration for a “household brand,” which I eventually narrowed down to the former family name of “Weinrich.” From this, I produced a mark meant to encapsulate a German brat or sausage, as well as resonate with the notion of brands—similar to those used to mark cattle—while simultaneously taking a contemporary approach through typography and visual treatment throughout the entirety of the brand, as a convention to make the packaging more eye catching while on display in stores.
