RESONANCE
This AR poster was a piece created during my senior year at Virginia Tech, in response to a print assignment which required students to create a poster depicting a moment that “resonated with you” or “impacted your life in a significant means,” and elevate this poster through the use of Augmented Reality. As an individual who frequently documents compelling quotes I come across, I chose to take the opportunity to illustrate one of my favorite quotes from acclaimed actor and director Denzel Washington, “Never mistake movement for progress.” The notion is pulled from a commencement speech Washington delivered years ago, where he detailed his struggle to find himself and success, and the idea that his mother’s instilled in him as a young man that “one may run in place all the time and never get anywhere, but it’s when we step outside of our comfort zone and accept change, that things begin to happen.” This brief anecdote from Washington was always empowering to me, and in many fashions I found it applicable to a multitude of areas of my life, and hence I decided to show my appreciation for it through portraiture and 3D rendered typography which likewise functioned in cyclical fashion.
