REVOLVER BREWING
This branding and packaging design was a project I completed as a senior at Virginia Tech, in response to a prompt that asked students to select a unique brewery, whiskey distillery, or vineyard throughout the United States, and produce an original branding to replace their current visual language. The project deliverables included a logo rebrand, supporting media such as illustrations or photography, and two product labels and associated packaging -- one being a “standard” product, while the other was intended to encapsulate a more “premier” product line.
With this prompt in mind, I chose to rebrand a small family-owned Texas brewery, Revolver Brewing, who’s unique name and history presented a diverse spectrum of possibilities in terms of branding, and who’s current aesthetic in many regards felt a bit outdated. In order to revitalize the visual language, I chose to replace their original logo mark--which in many ways felt too tall and overly embellished for a logo mark--with a more contemporary, clean-cut gestalt word mark meant to be reminiscent of the original six-shooter silhouette. I then paired this mark with a secondary monogram and separate six-shooter chamber logo, as well as condensed san-serif and slab-serif typography (as inspired by contemporary culture and western movie posters), and hand drawn revolver illustrations, in order to revitalize the brand with a more contemporary and inviting approach, while still paying homage to their original vision.
